After much hard work clearing this plot of dull shrubs and old litter, on Saturday 20th April, Congleton Food4Free organised 13 volunteers who got down to planting around 200 plants that are either edible, attractive to bees, or both. Take a look at the pics on Facebook.

A seedling swap organised by Congleton Sustainability Group will be held at Astbury Mere Visitor Centre on Sunday 28th April 2pm to 4pm.
Bring any seeds, seedlings, produce or cuttings and spare plants along to swap or donate.
Also the very rare 2012 vintage of Congleton Apple Juice will be on sale – sadly the yields were so poor last autumn that there is unlikely to be much for 2013.
Cheshire East is proposing to close the public toilets in Congleton (at the bus station, market and West Heath - not sure about West St car park) in June, thus killing off the High St shops, market and public events in one fell swoop. Well, we’ve lost our High St deli, and apparently although it is being re-opened by the original owners, it will be an eating place rather than a deli. Shame.
From 3pm to 7.30pm, at Congleton Town Hall, you can view plans by Seddon Homes for 230 houses to be built on the fields between the town centre and Lambert's Lane.
