Local cheese

Where can you buy locally produced cheese in and around Congleton?  Scroll down this page for info and updates. If you are a local cheese producer who sells at the farm gate, via shops or delivers to households, please contact us with the details you’d like added to the map.  Or if you know of a local producer or supplier, please give us their contact details so we can ask if they’d like to be included.

Home deliveries of cheese:

Cheshire Cheese Company – the name is confusing since this is a cheese company in Cheshire, rather than solely a producer of Cheshire cheese. So they do make cheddar! Their award-winning cheeses are made in Cheshire, with a distribution centre in Macclesfield. Their produce is also sold at various farm shops and delicatessens in the area.

H S Bourne are another cheesemaker in the county, in Malpas, but these concentrate on traditional style Cheshire cheese – the crumbly stuff, that is. Also butter. They sell at various farmers markets, and online.

The Real Food Company in Alsager sells many artisan cheeses, and may deliver to Congleton – ask.

Local farm shops:

Cheshire Farm Shop at Congleton Garden Centre

Glebe Farm, Astbury.

Selling from the farm gate:

H S Bourne (see above) may sell from the farm, but request that you contact them first (tel: 01948 770214).

Retailers:

The Real Food Company in Alsager sells many artisan cheeses, and may deliver to Congleton – ask.
